Weedie Braimah is an example of tradition, evolution and soul, as he brings to life his vision of creating a reverence for West African folk music in the hope that it will evolve and be placed on the global music stages of jazz, funk, fusion, world music and hip hop, becoming the new face of African percussion both nationally and internationally. Their sound is the new voice of Djembe music around the world.
Weedie Braimah comes from a long lineage of drummers, including his mother, Ann Morris, a respected jazz drummer, and his father, Oscar Sulley Braimah, a composer and drum master. Braimah has collaborated with world-renowned artists such as Cécile Mclorin Salvant, Christian Scott, Baaba Maal, Trombone Shorty, Pedrito Martinez and bandmate Chief Adjuah fka Christian Scott, nominated for Best Jazz Solo Artist for the song Sakoudougou, which appears on Braimah's debut album, The Hands of Time.
