Walter Smith III has developed under the wings of jazz music greats.
He has been a member of several legendary groups including the Roy Haynes Fountain of Youth Band, Terence Blanchard Quintet and Eric Harland’s Voyager. Smith has performed at jazz festivals worldwide, as well as famed venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Village Vanguard and the Kennedy Center.
Neame is an internationally renowned pianist, writer and bandleader who has established himself as one of the most innovative and dynamic figures in the contemporary jazz scene. He has worked with ensembles as diverse as the Frankfurt Radio Big Band and the London Sinfonietta. He is best known for his creative contributions to the award-winning bands Phronesis and the Marius Neset Quintet. As a sideman he has collaborated with artists such as Hermeto Pascoal, Kenny Wheeler and Mark Guiliana.
Neame’s piano trio features two of Europe's most in-demand sidemen: Conor Chaplin (bass) and Marc Michel (drums). The quartet will perform music from Walter Smith III’s most recent release on Blue Note, three of us are from Houston and Reuben is not. They will also navigate new music written by Neame especially for this collaboration.
