The Broadway Theatre, Studio Theatre, SE6 4RU , [Venue Details]Leave to Remain is a new contemporary dance work, with live indian classical vocals, conceived as a pilgrimage of body and place that explores memory and desire.
Leave to Remain is a technical term for the official permission granted by authorities to stay in the UK for a period of time. In this work objects become markers of memory and accumulate like sediment.
Loss is made visible through transformation, at times chaotic and at others deeply joyous, as four performers map fragile transitional spaces. The work is an invitation by choreographer Akshay Sharma into belonging, transformation and location.
