The Art of the Quartet
Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, W1D 4HT , [Venue Details]An evening of boundary-pushing contemporary jazz from The Art of the Quartet, the critically acclaimed project featuring four world-renowned musicians, showcasing original compositions by Danish saxophonist Benjamin Koppel.
The repertoire is rich, lyrical, and bold, with echoes of Coltrane, Charles Ives, modern classical music, and even subtle hints of global influences, but always with a unique voice rooted in Koppel’s distinctive compositional style.
Peter Erskine, known for his legendary work with Weather Report, Steps Ahead, and Bass Desires, brings decades of musical insight and rhythmic mastery to the group. This is a fresh chapter, not a retrospective. Joining him is GRAMMY-winning pianist Kevin Hays - one of today’s most expressive and inventive jazz voices, while Scott Colley - a pillar of the contemporary jazz scene, provides profound musical depth on double bass.
Together, they form a deeply interactive quartet where musical dialogue and listening are at the core of the experience.
