The Crossroads: La'l Tethera, Tóchar and The Beadling

Cecil Sharp House, NW1 7AY , [Venue Details]

The second in this gig series, showcasing three up-and-coming bands presenting modern takes on folk music.

Wednesday,
1 Jul 2026
@7.30pm

L'al Tethera
Based in the rainy Lakeland Fells, Georgie Rix, Ada Wood and Leo Rix (viola, fiddle and accordion) combine broad, textural arrangements with close vocal harmony, to create a tight and intentional sound, full of groove, grit and lilt. They bring a deep-rooted knowledge of English folk to a globally inspired repertoire, blowing audiences away with their unmistakable sound yet creating the feeling of being around the kitchen table with them all at the same time.

Tóchar play thoughtful arrangements of traditional and contemporary Celtic tunes on fiddle and guitar. Fran Barrett and Kai Dudley, who met on London’s vibrant session scene and now find themselves in Scotland, stage intimate and lively dialogues between their instruments, treating guitar and fiddle as musical equals.

The Beadling (Alice Beadle, Victoria Lynn and Juliet Beadle) are a trio from East Sussex. They are interested in taking a more experimental approach to folk and storytelling, reconsidering where social identity and social politics stand in the music they find and arrange.
