While his foundation was classical, Mikadze chose a more daring path—fusing Georgian choral polyphony, acoustic jazz, microtonal explorations, and contemporary improvisation into a singular voice.
Mikadze has achieved international recognition as musical director for projects such as VOISA, Georgian Overtones, and Georgian MicrojamZ, as well as through his role as pianist and arranger for Chinese pop superstar Wang Leehom’s Descendants of the Dragon world tour. He has also collaborated with icons including Jack DeJohnette, Jojo Mayer, Roy Hargrove, Dave Liebman, Miguel Zenón, Lee Ritenour, Antonio Sanchez, David Fiuczynski, and MonoNeon.
His latest album, Face To Face, features original compositions inspired by Georgian folk harmony and melody, crafted into new jazz standard forms. Alongside these works, the album and this performance draw on the rich repertoire of Georgian films, animations, and theatrical music by legendary composers such as Giya Kancheli, Nodar Gabunia, Sulkhan Tsintsadze, Shota Milorava, and Djansug Kakhidze.
