Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, W1D 4HT , [Venue Details]JD3 is a London-based hip hop-meets-jazz trio formed in 2017, led by Duayne Sanford (Dua Lipa, Christine & The Queens, Liam Payne, Roots Manuva, Honne) with co-founder David Mrakpor (BlueLab Beats, The Banger Factory) on keyboards.
The group's sound draws on their respective Jamaican and Nigerian heritage, mixing it with rhythms and melodies inspired by the late J Dilla’s iconic productions.
Joined by close collaborator, South London MC TINYMAN (Steam Down, Ayeisha Raquel), alongside Joon Switon on guitar and Chris ‘Fatty’ Hargreaves (Submotion Orchestra, PENGSHUi) on bass, they present a live spin on the J Dilla's cleverly sampled instrumentals, making for a tasty cocktail of musical blends.
Expect tight grooves and a night where jazz and hip hop collide, from a group who collectively have worked with Iman Omari, Misha B, and recorded a live EP with Illa J, yet to be released.
