Now, over a decade since relocating to London, the Brazilian-born bassist and composer has become one of the capital’s most sought-after musicians.
Since relocating from São Paulo, Brazil in the late 2000s, Moyses Dos Santos has collaborated and performed with artists including Emily Sandé, Nile Rodgers, Janelle Monáe, Gregory Porter, Omar, Becky Hill, Celeste and the legendary Brazilian ensemble Azymuth.
Although he is one of the UK's premier jazz and funk bassists, Moyses's technical virtuosity has never obscured the deeper currents running through his sound, the syncopated swing and deep pocket of samba, Baião, Maracatu: the spiritual pulse of his Brazilian roots.
For the special album launch for Maria, his debut record under his own name, these two sides of Moyses converge. Due for release in 2026 via Far Out Recordings, the album is a homecoming - named for his mother, reaching back to the source of everything that came before his international career.
