Sevdalides: Songs of Love and Farewell

Green Note Ltd, Green Note, NW1 7AN , [Venue Details]

Sevdalides are excited to be back at the Green note, this time with maestro Pavlos Carvalho on the double bass and the sweet Glykeria Kissa on vocals.

Sunday,
26 Apr 2026
@8.30pm

We have selected a series of well known Rebetiko and Laiko songs whose lyrics revolve around the idea of Love and Farewell. This is a tribute to all those people who have migrated, lost a home, found love, lost love and generally suffered in the hands of life.

We Greeks are people of the sea, we are travellers, seafarers, traders; but above all, we are ‘aisthimaties’. This word might not have a direct translation but it refers to the fact that we are being driven with hope, that one day we will come back to our loved ones. Our heart is the pilot boat that will bring us to port, back home to Piraeus and to the brown eyed muse that is waiting for us.
