Kiefer
Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, W1D 4HT , [Venue Details]Kiefer is a pianist and producer at the forefront of Los Angeles’ independent music scene, seamlessly bridging jazz, hip-hop, R&B and electronic music.
A Grammy-winning producer for Anderson .Paak and Drake, Kiefer has built a reputation for combining deep jazz musicianship with hard-hitting, self-crafted beats
His latest release, Something For Real, captures the energy of his live trio at a Los Angeles performance in 2023. Mixing key tracks from across his catalogue with new material and a striking take on Bobby Hutcherson’s Montara, the album highlights Kiefer’s fluid improvisation, intricate voicings and instinctive groove.
Raised in San Diego and later studying jazz piano at UCLA under Kenny Burrell, Kiefer developed his dual identity early - immersed in straight-ahead jazz while producing original beats outside the classroom. That dialogue between tradition and forward-thinking production defines albums from Kickinit Alone and Happysad through to When There’s Love Around and his most recent full-length, It’s Ok, B U.
Live, the trio format brings his music into sharp focus: rhythm-led and rooted in feel.
