Now based in London, her new album, Epiblast, chronicles transformation, rebirth, and personal evolution - from the joy of new parenthood to the grief of losing her brother - through a bold, hybrid sound that balances acoustic warmth and electronic exploration.
Over the course of her career, Naná has toured and recorded with artists including Tiê, Johnny Hooker, Ana Cañas, and performed at Lollapalooza, Rock in Rio, SXSW and Primavera Sound. Her Late Late performance promises intimate, unpredictable, and electrifying rhythms in a set shaped by improvisation and collaboration with her London trio.
Expect music sitting somewhere between the synth-heavy sonics of The Comet Is Coming and future jazz of corto. alto, whilst nodding to the progressive fusion of jazz and electronics pioneered by other contemporary drummer-turned-producers like Mark Guiliana and Richard Spaven. Aided by the exploratory ear of album co-writer & producer Mark Cake, as well as the enveloping modular synth layers added by Harry Jones (Lazy H), the music is underpinned by Naná’s deep knowledge of Brazilian rhythms, which will be given new context here.
