As part of the 10-year anniversary celebrations, Heppleston Double Basses is proud to present a night of music with Ewan Hastie at 1901 Arts Club on the evening of Wednesday 29 July 2026.
Joining him for this performance are friends and familiar faces on the scene, coming together for an evening of exciting music consisting of classic American songbook standards.
Ewan Hastie is a multi-award-winning bassist and composer, quickly making his mark on the UK jazz scene. In 2022, he won BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year, performing at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall, and followed this up in 2023 with the Best Instrumentalist Award at the Scottish Jazz Awards.
Since moving to London, Ewan has worked with many of the country’s leading musicians, becoming a familiar name on the UK’s thriving jazz scene including Jean Toussaint, Nikki IIes, Denys Baptiste, Iain Ballamy, Claire Martin, Jim Mullen, and Tom Ollendorff, to name a few.
Heppleston Double Basses
Each double bass encompasses many hours of intricate and detailed work using a combination of traditional methods and modern techniques. Made from exceptional quality wood, every double bass has a unique and outstanding sound, born of the individual materials and the work that has gone into carving, shaping, and finishing the instrument.
