“Beyond the streets of London”
The CryerArts Centre, SM5 3BB , [Venue Details]From the Producer and band of the hugely popular "Fire and Rain & American Pie", they now bring you a sequel. This time, featuring the UK Folk-pop chart-busters of the same era.
Throughout the swinging sixties and early seventies, artists such as Ralph McTell, Cat Stevens, Lindisfarne, The Seekers, Steeleye Span, Mary Hopkin, Donovan, Sandy Denny and a few quirky ‘one-hit wonders’ (!) went toe-to-toe in the pop charts with Rock/Pop giants such as the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.
A few of the Beatles’ acoustic-folky songs will also feature in this show, as their influence and inspiration spread throughout all popular music of the time.
It promises to be another fascinating, whimsical, sometimes melancholic journey (including some narrative and projection screen images) back to an extraordinary era of folk singer-songwriting.
Who said nostalgia ain’t what it used to be!
