Melissa Errico with the Tedd Firth Quartet
Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, W1D 4HT , [Venue Details]Tony Award–nominated vocalist Melissa Errico makes her Ronnie Scott’s debut with The Summer Knows, a stirring tribute to the music of Michel Legrand.
A leading interpreter of the legendary composer’s work, Errico brings rare authority and intimacy to this repertoire, having starred in Legrand’s only Broadway musical Amour and performed at his sold-out memorials in Paris and London. Following her sold-out appearance at Cadogan Hall and her debut at the Montreal Jazz Festival, where she opened for George Benson, Errico brings this deeply personal repertoire back to London.
Joined by first-call US pianist Tedd Firth and his hand-picked group, Errico infuses Legrand’s most beloved songs, “The Windmills of Your Mind”, “Watch What Happens”, and more with the improvisational spirit and emotional depth that made her the beloved favourite of the great French composer. Moving fluently between French chanson and the American Songbook, the programmme will also include songs by Charles Trenet and Cole Porter, tracing a musical dialogue between Paris and Broadway.
Errico’s connection to Legrand is both artistic and personal. She recorded with him conducting the Brussels Philharmonic.
