Rebetiko is a genre of urban Greek folk music that emerged in the early 20th century, often called the “Greek blues.” Originating from marginalized, working-class communities, it blends Greek, Ottoman, and Balkan influences into something raw, soulful, and unmistakable.
The name “Sevdalides” comes from the Greek word sevdas — that burning feeling of love and passion. For us, it’s more than just a name; it sums up what we’re about. Our connection to the music, our friendship, and the stories carried in rebetiko songs all sit right at the centre of what we do.
