Georgia Cécile & Jamie Safir: George & The Duke

Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, W1D 4HT , [Venue Details]

Winner of ‘UK Jazz Act of the Year’ and ‘Vocalist of the Year’ at the 2022 Jazz FM Awards, Georgia Cécile joins forces with acclaimed pianist and arranger Jamie Safir and his swinging trio for a celebration of two towering figures in jazz history: George Gershwin and Duke Ellington.

Wednesday,
17 Jun 2026
@6.20pm

Born just a year apart at the close of the 19th century, Gershwin and Ellington helped shape the sound and language of jazz in ways that continue to resonate today. Named by The Guardian as one of six UK artists to watch, Georgia brings her distinctive warmth and lyricism to their music, while Safir - described by Jay Rayner as “one of the biggest talents of British jazz piano” - provides inventive new arrangements that breathe fresh life into these timeless works.

The programme draws from Gershwin’s prolific catalogue of Broadway classics alongside music spanning Ellington’s extraordinary five-decade career, blending gospel, blues and global influences into a uniquely expansive American sound. Together, they offer a vibrant contemporary reimagining of two of the most influential composers in modern music.
