He lets the melodies arrive like half remembered dreams, intimate, unresolved, and wonderfully, stubbornly English in their refusal to make a big fuss about their own wounds. Think late‑night Talk Talk. Think Scott Walker if he’d spent his formative years learning patience on the M25.
