A composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist and drummer, the London-born artist has spent the last decade crafting a distinctive sound that draws equally from jazz, film scores, library music, psychedelia and soul. Inspired by soundtrack composers of the 1950s-70s and artists such as David Axelrod and Piero Umiliani, SHOLTO's music combines lush orchestration, analogue warmth and groove-driven arrangements with a deeply evocative sense of atmosphere.
His musical journey began in 2013 when a record deal took him to Los Angeles, leading to collaborations with producers including Nick Waterhouse. Returning to the UK, he went on to work with artists and producers such as Inflo and Dan Carey, while also establishing himself as one half of the production duo SFJ. Alongside recording, producing and mixing for artists including Miles Kane, Katy J Pearson, Wet Leg, Spiritualized and Tess Parks, he has become a sought-after session drummer, touring and performing with acts including Confidence Man, Lady Wray, Nick Waterhouse, Baxter Dury and Sinead O'Brien.
