Now he is stepping forward as an artist in his own right, drawing inspiration from Victor Provost, Andy Narell, Leon Thomas, Stevie Wonder and Hiromi.
Influenced by his Caribbean heritage, Marlon's music is an exploration of his ancestry as a Black British musician. He is recognised as a leading voice in contemporary steelpan performance, blending jazz, calypso, and modern fusion. He has performed at various top-tier events, including Love Supreme Festival, We Out Here, Jazz Refreshed, Jazz Cafe & Royal Albert Hall with some of London most exciting players. With emotive compositions and a fiery approach, Marlon is changing the way steelpan is experienced in the UK.
Kinetika Bloco is a youth music charity comprising an exuberant mix of young brass and woodwind players, drummers, steel pan players and dancers, all in costume, who together create a "unique new British carnival sound with a decidedly London edge" (BBC Radio 2). Many musicians and groups have passed through Kinetika, including the 2025 Mercury Prize winners and BRIT Awards Best Group, Ezra Collective, as well as Sheila Maurice-Grey, Mark Kavuma, Nubya Garcia and many others.
