Chico has received two Grammy Award nominations, both in the Best Latin Jazz Album category, in 2020 and 2021. Today, Chico is regarded as one of the most influential and celebrated Brazilian guitarists in both Brazilian music and jazz. Ed Motta aptly described him as the "Brazilian Wayne Shorter”, highlighting his brilliance not only as a performer but also as a composer.
For this performance, Chico is joined by acclaimed Brazilian pianist Hélio Alves, together with Mathias Allamane on double bass and Rogério Pitomba on drums. The quartet presents a programme featuring Pinheiro's original compositions, including music from his Grammy-nominated album City of Dreams, alongside new works and fresh interpretations of Brazilian classics.
Pinheiro’s music reflects a wide range of influences, from Tom Jobim, Edu Lobo and Baden Powell to Wayne Shorter, John Coltrane, Steely Dan, Chopin and Debussy.
