Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, W1D 4HT , [Venue Details]Alpha Cassiopeiae takes its name from the brightest star in the Cassiopeia constellation and is also a French instrumental duo built around keyboards and drums.
Their music blends hypnotic repetition inspired by GoGo Penguin, the rhythmic tension of Tigran Hamasyan, the minimalist approach of Mammal Hands and Portico Quartet, and the organic textures of Alfa Mist.
Deeply influenced by cinema, especially Damien Chazelle's 2018 film First Man, the duo embraces a sensitive and immersive vision of space: a human-scale perspective where tension emerges from waiting, sound and duration rather than spectacle.
The band's universe is strongly shaped by space travel imagery and 1970s science fiction. Shadows, their upcoming album, is conceived as a film without images, where each track functions as a sequence without explicit narration. The compositions evoke trajectories, preparation phases, acceleration, drift, and suspension. On stage, this imaginary world extends visually through a bold retro-futuristic aesthetic, notably inspired by 1970s NASA attire.
