Hailed as the future of the genre after winning the Standard Bank Young Artist Award in 2011, Dyer has continued to build an internationally celebrated career, with his trio album Neo Native winning the South African Music Award for Best Jazz Album in 2019.
Born in Botswana and raised in Johannesburg, Dyer’s music explores themes of identity, heritage and the evolving role of jazz in culture and society. His latest release, Radio Sechaba (Brownswood Recordings), brings together a wide range of influences, blending South African musical traditions with contemporary jazz while exploring vocal and lyrical expression.
With six albums to his name, Dyer has performed at venues and festivals around the world, including North Sea Jazz Festival, London Jazz Festival and a previous sold-out show here at Ronnie Scott’s. He returns with his trio featuring Timothy Norton on bass and Lumanyano Mzi on drums, presenting an evening of inventive compositions, infectious rhythms, melodic exploration and virtuosic piano playing.
