Pacheco is regarded as one of the leading Cuban jazz pianists of her generation and, in 2012, became the first woman in fifteen years to win the prestigious Montreux Solo Piano Competition. Her playing combines the rhythmic precision and energy of her Cuban roots with jazz and classical influences, and she has performed at festivals and venues including Montreux Jazz Festival, JazzBaltica, Detroit Jazz Festival, the Cologne Philharmonie and Birdland in New York.
Born in Essaouira, Morocco, Krija grew up immersed in the Gnawa tradition before developing a distinctive approach shaped by Andalusian, Arabic, African and Latin rhythms. One of the world’s most sought-after percussionists, he has worked with Sting, Herbie Hancock, Peter Gabriel, Stevie Wonder, Al Di Meola, Plácido Domingo and Prince.
Together, Pacheco’s rhythm-driven piano and Krija’s expressive percussion create a vibrant musical conversation shaped by spontaneity, trust, and imagination.
