Folk and Roots Presents: Shem Fillmore Band (Matinée Show)
Green Note Ltd, Green Note, NW1 7AN , [Venue Details]“Shem Fillmore is an absolute force of nature. He is a brilliantly eccentric and virtuosic musician, and his shows are at once musically tight, entertaining and enlightening.
His band has a line-up of stellar musicians, performing tight and quirky arrangements of traditional folk tunes from the UK and beyond, adding improvisation to the melting pot of flying folk medleys.”- Rachel Hayter, Alvorada.
English traditional music from a parallel universe – Shem Fillmore and his quartet stir together the future, past and alternative timelines into a seething broth. The music draws from the social music making of recent traditions, as well as mystical threads from the baroque-era and more contemporary influences. The band explores patterns, rhythms, movement and the crooked and exciting corners of the English tune repertoire.
