Georgian wrangle ‘60s pop, country, folk, shoegaze, and further-flung traditional styles into tales navigating harsh emotional environments. “We don’t fit into any single genre because of the way we write together. Individually, we have such different musical tastes,” they say. “So, what goes in, is what comes out!”
Swapping lived experiences and music trivia over ales in their local pubs, Georgian bonded over wearing stories on their sleeves. In no time at all the band began making music together and the Dutch countryside beckoned; or more specifically, Broek in Waterland - a postcard-perfect 17th century village of wooden houses, meandering waterways, lush greenery, and wildlife.
Hanging out in the sun by day, drinking by the firepit at night, with only barn cats, sheep, mosquitoes dazzled by holistic insect repellent, and the vinyl serenade of Velvet Underground, Lee Hazelwood and Nancy Sinatra for company, the tracks of debut EP Crackled Grounds were laid down with producer Arno Stols at Magenta Studio.
