Substance at the Spice of Life Featuring – Poetika Music
The Spice of Life, W1D 5NA , [Venue Details]Poetika Music blend original poetry, spoken word and acoustic music. Kavita and James perform live with heartfelt songs + storytelling.
Kavita is a poet who believes in the power of lyrics to connect us on a deeper level.
James is a singer-songwriter originally from California.
Vernons Future are an indie band from Oxford and London with their own distinctive twist on the poppier end of the indie spectrum.
VF were born as The Vernons in Liverpool back in the 80’s and played hundreds of gigs leading up to the release of album Smithdown Road on Probe Plus at the start of 1990.
After an almost imperceptible pause of around 25 years(!), with band members having spread across the world, VF were rebooted. Simon the singer had moved back to the UK and linked up again with Andy, Jon and Tom (guitar, keys and drums - all based in north London now) and Hoop (Simon H) on bass.
Indie survivors indeed
Super Lemon Cherry are a South East London-based band playing original funk and soul alongside a choice selection of covers.
Drawing inspiration from the likes of Jamiroquai, Vulfpeck, Prince, Roy Ayers and the Isley Brothers, they blend deep-pocket grooves, soulful vocals and infectious hooks, with a sound rooted in classic funk, soul and acid jazz.
Expect tight grooves, big choruses and a live set designed to get the room moving.
