Drummer, tabla player and composer Anmol Mohara’s critically acclaimed debut album Across The Sea is a testament to the artist’s dedication to bringing traditional Nepali music into a contemporary, global context.
The London-based artist draws inspiration from visionary artists like Trilok Gurtu, Oumou Sangaré, Nitin Sawhney and Karim Ziad. Mohara’s music is deeply-rooted to his homeland, ‘bringing a fresh voice’ (Maddy Allison, Presto Music) through a fusion of the improvisational spirit of jazz and his global musical influences.
Bringing together contemporary artists and traditional ensembles, this show is a fitting celebration of an ‘effervescent’ (Songlines) album.
