A rising star on the European jazz scene, Somuah has developed a distinctive voice shaped by the influence of Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard and Roy Hargrove, alongside the rich musical heritage of his native Ghana.
Peter Somuah's warm, expressive trumpet sound and melodic approach have earned widespread acclaim, while his compositions effortlessly blend jazz, funk, soul and traditional Ghanaian music. Following the success of his Edison Jazz Award-winning debut Outer Space, Somuah returns with music from his latest ACT release, Walking Distance.
Described by the BBC as "jazz at its most international", Peter's music has taken him to major stages including North Sea Jazz Festival, JazzBaltica and Blue Note Beijing. Combining lyrical improvisation, infectious grooves and a truly global perspective, Peter Somuah is one of the most compelling new voices in contemporary jazz.
