Led by guitarist, composer and teacher Peter Duncan, the Hugo Velvet Band is a dynamic ensemble of some of the most accomplished musicians on the London music scene. The project is the musical forerunner to a new funk musical Peter is currently developing for release in 2027, bringing together an exciting blend of powerful compositions, virtuosic musicianship and infectious energy.
Joining Peter on stage is an exceptional line-up of musicians, each bringing their own unique sound and experience to this vibrant musical collective. From the expressive trumpet and piano of Sidney Moon, to the rich tones and dynamic playing of award-winning tenor saxophonist Duncan Eagles, the melodic and animated improvisation of trombonist Chris Fry, and the captivating percussion of Joel Prime.
The band is completed by the hugely respected Hungarian drummer and educator Gabor Dornyei, renowned for his work across the UK, Europe and America, and versatile London-based bassist Mike Searl, whose unique style and wealth of musical ideas bring an unmistakable energy to every performance.
