Jazz At The George - Sync School
The George IV, W4 2DR , [Venue Details]In late 2023 a group of experienced musicians decided to get together to play the music they really loved.
Many had played together in bands such as ‘The Liz Owen Band’, ‘Soulfunks’ and ‘Clarence King & The Regents, frequently performing at the Half Moon in Putney, and the Bull’s Head in Barnes.
Initially formed as an instrumental combo finding a singer was the icing on the musical cake. Sync School’s influences range through Nat Adderley, and Kenny Burrell to Herbie Hancock and Larry Carlton but always with a strong groove.
Multi-instrumentalist Tim Blanchard plays soprano, alto and baritone saxes and guitarist Mike Brown cut his teeth in the 70’s and early 80’s in bands with both musicians performing with “Clarence King & The Regents” along the way.
American keyboardist Pico Brown has been playing piano and Hammond organ for many years performing a broad repertoire of jazz, funk, soul and blues for a variety of bands in America and England where he is now based with the music of Jimmy Smith, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock and Oscar Peterson among his many influences.
Bass guitarist Dave Meaden has been providing funky bottom-line grooves for a various bands over the years such as “The Usual Suspects” and The Liz Owen Band” and drummer and percussionist Ian Meredith’s drumming credits covered a broad diversity of blues, pop and rock n’ roll bands at different London venues before joining “The Liz Owen Band” and now “Sync School”
